My friend gifted me the game and I cannot play

when I try to link to ubisoft connect it ask for a cd key? Steam does not give you cd keys anymore how the hell am I supposed to play

Just downloaded this game and literally have the same exact problem

My steps after purchase - Play, make a ubisoft account, log out of Uplay fully, launch uno from steam and it worked.

I'm a little late, but I just had the same issue and I managed to fix it. (When I got the "activate CD keys" message, I was told by google to exit the program and then relaunch, but then my game refused to launch at all.)

I fixed it by first verifying the game integrity through Steam, (just in case) then logging out of Ubisoft connect, and then restarting my PC. I then opened the game via Steam and it finally launched as it should, activating/redeeming itself automatically.
AFAIK, it asking for a CD key is a bug on Ubisoft's part, so I hope they fix it one day. If not, hopefully this fix works for you and anyone else who encounters this issue!
