First off, a massive thank you for all the feedback you've been giving our UNO updates - all feedback is valuable, it tells us a lot about whether we're going in the right direction or not.
We're Snap Finger Click – a small, fully independent studio filled with people who live and breathe party games. As huge UNO fans ourselves, it's a genuine honour to be steering the development of the video game version. Some of us have been creating party games for PC and console for nearly two decades, and we're excited about the various ways we can improve the game, implement features that the community likes to see, and ultimately do everything we can to deliver a high quality experience.
We've noticed some discussions on the forums (and specifically in this thread) about our role and wanted to clear things up a bit, especially regarding Ubisoft. Since last year, Snap Finger Click has proudly taken over the development of the UNO video game. This means our team is building the game, working on new updates, features, and improvements.
However, it’s very important to know that we do this in close and ongoing partnership with Ubisoft, who continue their important role as the publisher of UNO as normal.
To explain these roles more clearly:
> The Developer (that's us, Snap Finger Click) is the team responsible for the actual creation of the game. This involves designing game mechanics, writing the code, creating art and sound, continually updating and refining the game, etc.
> The Publisher (that's Ubisoft) is the company that handles bringing the game to you, the players. This includes aspects like marketing and promotion, distributing the game on various platforms, and managing its overall release.
So, while the day-to-day creation and future enhancements of the UNO video game have transitioned to our dedicated team here at Snap Finger Click, Ubisoft fully involved as the publisher, ensuring UNO reaches all of you effectively. Previously, Ubisoft handled both development and publishing. This new arrangement means you now have a dedicated indie studio (SFC) laser-focused on making the UNO game experience the best it can be, while Ubisoft continues to use their expertise to support its release and availability worldwide.
We're incredibly excited about the future of UNO and have been hard at work. Your support, feedback, and kind words genuinely mean the world to our team – thank you! 🫡
