SHAME on Ubisoft; they updated the game in 2022 and broke Remote Share. But I got it to work... Unfortunately with Remote Share, the players will be able to see each other's cards, and will be on the same team (COOP) -- if there's only 2 players. I haven't yet tested it with 3 players.
DO NOT TRY TO CONNECT ANY PLAYERS UNTIL THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO.
HOST: Enable Steam Remote Play in the Host's PC Steam Program: "Steam" menu (top left) > Settings > Remote Play > Enable Remote Play
GUESTS: Login to their Steam account(s) on the default browser of the device they are going to use: https://store.steampowered.com
THEN: Download, Install, and Login to these 3 Google Play Store Apps: STEAM CHAT, STEAM LINK, & STEAM (won't need to login on Steam Link)
STEAM LINK is the key here; especially if the GUESTS are playing on a phone or tablet, without a Controller. And if they're having controller connectivity issues, they can at least still get in the game, using touch screen. This will alleviate a lot of headaches.
URGENT: If at some point you don't follow these instructions exactly, you may have to close the game (ALT + F4), and restart it; if you can't get the option to choose "Co-op" (at the very end of these instructions).
HOST - UNO: "1-2" Local Play > "2v2" (this is unfortunate but all that works; if you have less than 4 players, there will be AI bots) > Classic UNO (can probably choose any of the 3 options, but I haven't tested it) > STOP! DO NOT START THE GAME UNTIL THE VERY END OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE CONTINUING, CONNECT THE PLAYERS...
<HOST: Remote Play METHOD A) Friend Direct>
Start Uno game from Host's Steam Program > [SHIFT] + [TAB] (Steam Overlay) > Friends (icons on bottom) > Rt-Click friend > select 'Remote Play Together' > Close Steam Overlay -- (Could also click Controller Icon Top Right > Invite Friend > Confirm) > [ESC] (to close Steam Overlay)
<HOST: Remote Play METHOD B) Send Friend a Link>
Start Uno game from Host's Steam Program > [SHIFT] + [TAB] (Steam Overlay) > Friends (icons on bottom) > Invite A Guest > Copy Link & Share It > Make sure they've already downloaded and signed in to all the above (default browser, and all 3 Steam Android Apps)> (to close Steam Overlay)
GUESTS: Guests receive a notification on their device > Open notification > click Play Game > At this point all players should see your screen share. NOTE: If Host switches to a different program (e.g. ALT + TAB) their share will pause and the Guests will see: "Please hold... input is temporarily disabled..."
GUESTS NOTE: At this point, all Guests should see a "CONNECTED" splash screen and they MUST NOW click "Let's go!"
HOST FYI: If Guests connect without a controller, in the Host's Steam Program, under UNO Controller Layout, you will notice: CONTROLLER_MOBILE_TOUCH.
IMPORTANT: You must verify that ALL PLAYERS -- INCLUDING HOST -- are indeed successfully added to Remote Play (otherwise the "Co-op" option will never become available at the end of these instructions): Make UNO active > [SHIFT] + [TAB] (Steam Overlay) > Remote Play > You'll notice that their controller icon (or phone / tablet icon) is present as indicated in the bottom left circles (Green 2, Red 3, or Orange 4). You can do this anytime to verify they are connected.
HOST: This is the single most important part of these instructions... USING YOUR CONTROLLER -- NOT YOUR KEYBOARD (otherwise you'll disconnect yourself from coop) -- NOW YOU CAN Start Game > Choose "Co-op"
If the "Co-op" option did not come up, ALT + F4 and start again. Instead of restarting, you could try [SHIFT] + [TAB] (Steam Overlay) and "Kick Player" and then re-add them GOOD LUCK!
