Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

byzantines unrealistic
Ive done the byzantine campaign and found it historiacally inacurrate. One thing is that the empire dosen't start with its danubian frontier, which it managed to hold on to despite the loss of asia minor. Second Durrazo Should be held by the Byzantines as it remained part of the empire.Another issue is that Nicaea should not be held by the empire as a history book SPECIFICALLY said that the city fell to the turks in 1078. One thing that annoyed me is Constantinople is WAYYYYYYY to small and weak to be realistic. It definitley should be a huge city not just large. And seriously? Only a small church in Constantinople? WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥!!!! Did someone forget to tell the developers about the Hagia Sophia? Anyways, I also think there should also be a Nicomdeia region because that city was very important at the time, and was one of the few cities in asia minor that the byzantines managed to hold on to. Overall I have found that the shapes of the regions is not proper for representing byzantine history. So, what do you guys think? Are there any mods to fix this? Exspecially one that gives the byzantines a proper frontier on the danube.

You think thats bad they didnt even get the Mongols Religion right I was playing as as Moors one day. A Jihad was Called next thing i see is that the Mongols Joined the Jihad thats not right In real life The Golden Horde was Pagan Not Islamic. You should Play the Kingdoms Expansion the Crusades Campaign it has more faction Detail and I think it Has Nicomdeia as a region you can also make Greek fire units as the Byzantines.Yeah they didnt get everything right but i think they did that to balance the factions but remeber the Sejuks did end up takeing most of the Byzantines land in the end.
I played the kingdoms expansion but it pissed me off that they didnt include the european part of the empire (other than constantinople) btw i totally agree the mongols were pagan not islamic! And I absolutley HATE the fact the the factions expand in weird/unrealistic ways- why the hell would portugal try to take over Wales!!!????? This game needs an update and unfortunatley its not going to get one because its old and sadly they have already closed the last studio that was still working on this game. I guess we can just hope for a new game. Medieval III anyone? :D

oh and one last thing i checked the crusades campaign and it did not have Nicomedia -sigh-

Yeah I didnt like that part either should have kept the orignal map with the new regions added. Yeah true lol it is a game though you can change history, And yeah they did that to me i thought it was funny but hey everyone wanted a peice of England xD

You must remember guys you carve your own history as a faction and "re-create" history, a lot of castles and cities were important in the medieval era but the devs cant include all of them!!! They had to choose some and stick with them, and also guys it is a very old game and back when it was being made everything would have been considered very accurate, and there is obviously going to be flaws in it, after all its a game...

Also if you made it realistic most likely some faction would be too overpowered to make it a balanced game.
yeah but some factions are already overpowered (france, england) so that dosent really matter. either way the byzantines strength is severely underestimated and they are the most underpowered faction in the game

Byzantines are one of my favs and they are good i think untill the late period because they dont get gunpowder sucks they should have the option i understand they didnt survive long enough in history to use it.But it makes them the worst faction in the game in the late period everyone but them gets it. They could have made the gunpowder units expensive or something to balance it.
well they can hire mercenaries which is good, plus personally i think some good horse archers can beat musketeers any day, so actually i dont think that its that big of a problem not having gunpowder

oh but as far as mods go,are there any other mods that would correct some of the problems with byzantine gameplay I mentioned? If not, could i mod changes in myself (add/ change the shape of regions)? If that is the case, how would i do it? (im new to modding) Anyways like the responses, most of my discussions seem to be ignored. D:

You can google medieval total war 2 mods there is a mod website just cant remeber the name im sure it has some byzantine mods on it and you could probably get some help learning to mod.Yeah horse archers can be a pain but the thing i dislike is they seem to miss most of the time they also seem to burn up ammo way faster then normal archers.I agree though they do seem a bit underpowerd compared to real history the byzantines were the only empire in history to survive over a thousand years they didnt last that long by being weak. They are still pretty good i think and they are one of my fav empires if not fav.

If you wanna make Constaninople more like the real one was you could use the money cheat population cheat and building cheat to max out Constantinople and make it into a mega city like it was in real life.
i have i basically upgraded everything using the process cq cheats and add_money cheats till i couldnt do any more. I also upgraded Nicaea and Thessalonica to minor cities to be more realistic
oh and can someone send me a link to download stainless steel? all the places i looked the download link was broken
