I'm not on my pc, so I can't go look for the exact info, but copy the unpack all, edit it, and change the destination.
I'd also suggest having c:\modding\medieval2\mymod
And
C:\modding\medieval2\mymod\backups
Youll save yourself a lot of headaches if you f up.
Edit:
This is what you need. It's the easiest way, and the tools are maintained to this day by a dedicated community

Appreciate recommending my mod set up (Bare Geomod) makes it very easy to start modding. More modding stuff from me can be found here: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/tags.php?tag=creating+a+world
I have also written a guide\made batch files to unpack the game outside it's main folder: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?550619
Thanks for all you do :-)
Man Gigantus invading the steam disscusions once again.
I find the Geomod maybe useful when it's really about editing the the map, creating a complete new entire overhaul mod. Else I'm more a fan of "Nerd is to Human"s modding guides. Geomod is unituitive for the average person (like me) who isn't into programming IMO
I also suggested doing a wipe because I dont know what's been edited or where.
Use a mod folder ;-)
