The Holy Roman Empire has Teutonic Knights. But you can't train them normally you need a chapter house (so going on a crusade will help). Also the Teutonic's pavise crossbow unit (Livonian Auxillaries?) is the same as the vanilla pavise crossbow. You also have lots of different cavlary like the Teutonic Order (Imperial Knights will be your most common cavalry unit late game). They have Gothic Knights but they suck. For infantry they have Dismounted Imperial Knights which are pretty good. Btw if you didn't know teutonics were german so they relatively same tactics in battle.

Yeah well they are the closest to it. You CAN install Stainless Steel if you want vanilla grand campiagn with a Teutonic Order. It's kind of hard to install but there are plenty of tutorials. Also they are still the same play style. In late game at least. I think it's because you're still in the early period you say that they are nothing like each other. Late game it is the same PLAYING STYLE but no units that are the same.

Theres the kingdoms grand campaign mod which I think merely adds the kingdoms factions to the grand campaign map
Kman May 31, 2015 @ 8:58am
Yeah there is that too. It's just that I don't know if he wants a mod for teutonic order in it, or wants a faction that is like them in vanilla. I already said HRE but I guess it's up to a mod to suit his wishes.

Battle Axe mod also has an Order faction for both Baltic Campaign and also a combined Holy Orders faction for all three major orders in the Crusade options (Templars, Hospitallers and Teutonic orders combines, which is an interesting variety.

We've loaded it to Drop box, so fast to download, easy to install and great to play. Decent realistic and aggressive A/I too. Recommend.

True, but from the way I read his post he isnt after the variety of a different faction, merely wanting to play it in a grand campaign so if he's willing to mod the game slightly, that mod keeps the vanilla feel while adding the Kingdoms factions.

I got that too, but if you follow the string, HRE wasn't 'good enough' so the alternatives are what we are discussing.

:)

Yeah I think SS is not what he wants. I honestly think SS and Battle Axe are good because it's still vanilla but it has the religous orders. But I think that he doesn't want a huge overhaul mod so maybe not SS.

I find Stainless a bit disappointed. The A/I is still way to flaccid. Initially the scope of it impresses but the shine soon wears off.

Kingdoms is his best option for vanilla Holy Orders.

This should give you all info needed for the Kingdoms Grand Campaign mod and if I remember correctly keeps the game close to vanilla if you want to try this one. Not sure if its still as simple to install now that they've merged the launchers, just a heads up.
