Have you got a more easier approach to follow as i have never used mods on a computer before or any gaming console
I have this exact same problem. Also, what do you mean by "it creates its own mods folder". When I downloaded all the parts for TATW, it didn't make its own folder. Do I need to make one and rename it "mods"?
When you install Third Age into the Medieval 2 folder, it'll automatically place itself in the mods folder (where the Americas, Tuetonic and Crusades campaign are installed). It will do so in a folder named Third_Age.
Second of all, you need to make a shortcut, no need to name it Kingdoms.exe because you can name it anything, I just give it the name of them of I want to use that shortcut with. What you'll want to do then. Is the following;

This guide is very simple to follow and does a very simple thing;
1) You won't have to fiddle around with the other campaigns
2) You'll be able to create multiple launchers for multiple mods, all in their seperate folder
3) By doing so, none of the mods will interfere with each other
4) If you want to get rid of a mod, it doesn't need a complete reinstallation of the game for any existing files that didn't get removed.
I managed to do it. What i did was put the third age mods in a seperate folder called Third age and then transffered the folder into the americas and renamed the orginal americas americas 2 and renamed the mods to Americas and i can now run it completely. There is a video on youtube that will show you how to do it the way i did.
Known bug.
Untick your daylight savings (windows calendar/time)

Change your lightning in the game
Check to see what the map is, mine tends to crash more on maps with water on it.
