Why can't I play as Denmark?
I played this game years ago, and remember, that I could start out as Denmark. But now I can only start as Venice, England, Spain, and a couple of others in Campaign mode. I can choose all of those I remember in quick battle, but that is not what I want :(

I don't think you can play as Denmark at first, I was never able to. You can unlock it very quickly by playing as the HRE and taking them out soon after starting. Once you've wiped it out, start a new campaign and you have the option to play as them. Same goes for any other faction you conquer.

You need to unlock them by either defeating them in a campaign or just completing a campaign (will unlock all unlockable factions). Alternatively you could edit descr_strat.txt.

okay so when I defeat them in a campaign I will be able to start with them in the next one I start?

Yes. Though keep in mind that they may not be available until the next time you start the game.

When you play with denmark.. don't recruit vikings.. get the armored version instead.

what? Vikings rock! Huscarls are too expensive early on

find hte descr_strat file and open it with the notepad, it's the easiest way to edit it. It's really simple, a monkey could almost do it. Just move the factions from the unplayable or unlockable part to the playable, and you are ready to go.
