I installed the base game through steam and I thought i would be able to put in disc 2 next and then get kingdoms expansion but it doesnt work obviosuly
Steam version != Disk version
You can't use your disk to install Kingdoms onto a Steam computer.
What you CAN do is use your Kingdoms KEY to save you re-purchasing; you'll still need to download the files anyway.
1) Add A Game (bottom left of Steam client window)
2) Activate a Product on Steam
3) Next, Next, and type it in
4) and now the Kingdoms DLC should show up in your library - as uninstalled.
One, it's a DVD not a CD
Two ; that is probably for purposes of copyright and DRM. Ever tried to explore a audio CD? Or a movie DVD? You should be able to right-click the DVD drive (under Computer) and run an Autoplay from there - but keep in mind that your disk will only install to a disk version of M2, not Steam.
Three, are you on a Mac?
