Seriously, some people use 'Flaming arrows' against ladders?
That's a grave tactical mistake, use the real thing. Ladder bearers have no cover.
Ladder bearers die horribly under normal (preferably crossbow) archery. Use skirmish order to approach the walls and reduce casualties. Then close up for the assault. Most gamers are too tactically lazy to change a units formation or state once it's in operation but some thought will help units chances of success.
Learn to stretch the defender and attack at multiple locations to achieve a foothold you can exploit.
Thanks Dark Angel. I will try this approach and you are correct in saying that most of the time I do not take the time to seriously change up formations (especially on defensive assaults). Thanks again.
You are most welcome.
I thought the same when I read it first, but either way it has made for good convo.
