TES total war issue

i cant seem to be able to start my game every time it keeps saying my medieval 2 total war wasn't working at all. any time i try to run my Skyrim total war it crashes completely. cant i get some help please

Are using the mod's BAT file to start the mod?
Is that file in this path: ...\m2tw\mods\[mod name here]
Are you seeing a splash screen?

im using the mods bat, and yes it is in m2tw/mods. and no i dont see splash screen

Wait -BAT file is in m2tw\mods?
Not m2tw\mods\tes (or similar last directory name)?
What is the exact error message?

"Medieval 2: total war encountered an unspecified error and will now exit."

That's the standard error message, doesn't help. A crash before even the splash screen shows could be a faulty installation.
Any chance you might have forgotten about doing some entry in steam's custom launch option? --> right click game in library, select 'properties'
