Third Age. Best Divide and Conquer faction?

I love DaC. It's probably my favorite mod as a whole, I havent tried MoS yet because I have heard issues with Turn Times and Lag, so I have avoided that.

So what is the best faction you've played in DaC?

Good: Thranduil's Realm. OP as f*ck. Woodland Sentinels are boss and 2 units of archer demolish an orc unit in 1 or 2 vollies.

Evil: Clans of Enedwaith. Surprise huh? The clans have such powerful Skirmisher units. Greyflood Raiders and Angren Raiders can literally demolish ANY unit in the game in about 2 vollies. And each unit can do about 13 vollies. They are cheap, quick to replenish and. imo, have the best shock troops in the game.

you have M2TW on steam? Correct?

First make a folder named Third_Age on your desktop. Presumably I assume you have TATW Parts 1 and 2, as well as the patches.

1. Install them all into the Third_Age folder you created.

(Optional)- If you go into the folder and there is a "mods" folder, go into that folder and if there is a "Third_Age" sub-folder, cut and paste it's contents into the main folder.

2. Once you have all that installed + submods, go into your SteamApps/Common/M2TW folder, and go into the Mods section there.

3. Place the Third_Age folder from your desktop into the mods folder

4. Pick your least favorite M2TW Campaign(Crusades, Americas, Britannia, or Teutonic), and rename to it for example: crusades2

5. Rename the Third Age folder to the EXACT name of that campaign so for the example it would be "crusades" not "Crusades" or "CrUsades".

6. Right click on M2TW and launch via the campaign you renamed, so if I clicked Launch Crusades that would launch TATW.

DaC has some really, really, really bad balance problems...

My favourite faction is the Dwarves of Erebor
1) Starting unit costs 500 and has 250 upkeep. 6 melee, 6 charge, 9 def, effective against armor.
2) Lategame elites are not only cheap (1000), but also OP (10 attack, effective against armor, 30 def) but also spammable (there's about... five elites with those stats)
3) Catapults. Grapeshot. Because of the fact that siege engine hits are a one-hit-kill, this means grapeshot will take out trolls. And Nazgul. And, in fact, anything it hits.
4) Stuffing aforementioned catapults behind OP Vault Wardens (12 attack? PIKEMEN?) is basically indestructible

Evil: Isengard, great pikes and some of the best infantry on every a really fun starting postion, but you have really weak cavalry.

Good: The Northren Dunedain, the start is dificult because your provines are pretty low income, but your Dunedain archers are pretty OP. It's fun watching hordes of orc infantry die to your archers and win heroic victory after heroic victory with minimal casulties.

[Lithrun]

Good: Dwarves
No matter if it are the dwarves of Ered Luin, Khazad Dum or Erebor. The dwarves are just pure badass and are pretty strong.

Evil: Shadow of Mirkwood
They have pretty OP elite troops and their regular roster is better than Mordor's

I don't use DAC. I just use standard third age. I thought about trying DAC before, but it looks like it makes the game even more unbalanced and lore breaking. Olag-Hai trolls for Isengard really? Lame!

I would say Imladris because their elites are like sooo good, like THE BEST of all the game AAAAAND they also look awesome (their upkeep is atrocious but who talks about that).

I've only played 2 campaigns in DaC yet; Imladris and Umbar. Personally was thinking between Rhun/Umbar but Umbar seems to be the stronger faction. Their elites are on par with Dol Amroth armour wise but with the added disabilty of requiring a coastal region to be recruited. Their Royal N'Aru N'aru Guard are one of the strongest Human elites in the game.

Isenguard has trolls of the White Hand not Olog-Hai. That belongs to Mordor.

I loved Umbar. I conquered half of Dol Amroth and Gondor and pushed into the realms of Enedwaith and Dunland

Can you remember if you could build the slave camps in Dunland? I'm kinda on a mission to find out which native regions I can enslave for my own powerhousing but thus far am unable to confirm Rhovanion, Anduin, Rhun, Dunland, Bree-Land, Nortern Dunedain.

I do know that Dwarven and Elven factions cannot be enslaved (which makes sense) but not sure why the Dunedain can't be enslaved.

I'm really suprised no one mentioned Dol Amroth -- interesting starting location, A LOT of action early on, very powerful roster and pretty nice lore :)
Actually General Swan Knights are THAT OP you just rekt anything, including pikes. (just need to flank them)

Dol Amroth has a really annoying expansion plan, in that your front lines are ages away from your recruitment.
