Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

For those who installed Broken Crescent: Any success with Steam?
After failing to install Stainless Steel due to for some reason not being able to open the tor. files (and torrent is the best seed for that mod), I turned my attention to Broken Crescent.

Its easy to install and everything seemed fine until at the end of downloading the last part of the mod, a message appears that says "cannot find kingdom.exe" or something like that. I've followed exactly what the instructions at the TWC told me to do, and yet even after trying again it does not work. It feels like the instructions were really made with those owned the physical copy in mind and don't really care for Steam users.

Anyone using steam for Medieval 2 have any luck installing the mod. And if so, how did you did it and got around the problem?

I haven't played SS in years but have you tried turning off UAC: How To Fix UAC and VirtualStore Problems [www.twcenter.net]

Other than that, I have Broken Crescent running on Win8.1 and it is great. Some bugs here and there but nothing too major and I back up my saves just in case. Finished a KOJ campaign last week and I'm in the beginning of one of the Rajput campaigns. The pink Indian faction, lot's of elephants and nice music. The music for the Byzantines was driving me crazy but the KOJ music is one of my favorites. Lot's of large battles and very populous cities with a stinit of plague here and there but not annoying like in vanilla.

I also have TATW and it runs fairly well.

Great for you if the mod works, but is the mod for a physical copy of Med2 or on Steam?

Here's the same problem encountered by someone else who reported it on the TWC forums:

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?689637-Trouble-starting-after-installation-Error-code-pops-up-quot-Windows-cannot-find-kingdoms-exe-Make-sure-you-typed-the-name-correctly-and-then-try-again-quot

You sure you never had this? Do you have any idea as to how to solve it? Keep in mind that the developers of BC don't have any mention of it. Also, if this might help, my OS is Windows 7.
My main is Steam version but I also have disc version since original release on my old Vista pc.Yes, the problem I had with Steam was solved by editing the batch file. I have not played SS in a while so I didn't advise and so not lead you astray. These mods I play have batch files in mod folder (not sure about SS), right click on batch file select "Edit" and change the name of text from kingdoms.exe to medieval2.exe. Also, I made sure not to run as administrator when I installed or play it or it gives error. That method works for TATW and BC, maybe SS too if it's not drop in mod.

Read installation instructions section. [www.twcenter.net]

If method works for SS, sorry I not told you before. Work for BC and TATW for sure.

I have the same problem. What you can do is:

Go into one of the kingdoms mod files and delete its content. I deleted the content of the Americas mod.

Copy the content in Broken_Crescent_kingdoms folder to the Americas or whatever mod folder you deleted the content to.

Now launch the game from steam and select the Kingdoms mod you just pasted the BC content in.

BC will now launch without problem.

I have a problem with all the unit cards looking the same though.

If you have a problem with the factions not appearing in custom battle, you will find a mods folder inside the Broken_Crescent_kingdoms folder. click on it and then click on Broken_Crescent_kingdoms folder and copy the content to the main Broken_Crescent_kingdoms folder.

so it will look like this:

Broken_Crescent_kingdoms->mods->Broken_Crescent_kingdoms. Here you will find a data folder and a bc_kingdoms.cfg. Copy these to files and paste them in the main folder of Broken crescent.
