Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

How well does this run on Integrated Graphics?
So, with the school year starting, I've moved back to my shared apartment and left my gaming PC at my parents' house for safekeeping. That means I'm limited to games that run on an iGPU or GeForce Now (a virtual-machine streaming service). Would Medieval 2 run well on an iGPU (128MB of VRAM)? I downloaded the demo, but it would be nice to get some confirmation from other players if Med2 is old enough to run on non-gaming machines.

Well can you give a bit more info? What is the specific IGPU your wanting to run the game on? Med 2 is a very easy game to run nowadays but if your trying to run it on an old IGPU then i think you will still have problems getting it to run decently. I previously ran it on an old AMD A9 APU and it ran terribly. Also keep in mind your processors single core speed. The higher that is the better Med 2 should run considering it only uses a single core. Hope all that helps :)

I tried running the demo, and while it ran acceptably, the stretched UI at 1080p was annoying, and the alternative was black bars at 768p.

I have an Intel UHD in an i5-1035G1; so a modern chip, but not a particularly powerful one.
Well I'm sure it can run. You can probably even tweak configuration to address the quirks of the latest post but I'm not clear where that would start except manually setting the resolution through settings or if that misbehaves, medieval2.preference.cfg. A good test would be slapping together the largest battle the demo lets you. The bottleneck is usually the cpu itself or even just the game itself but I'll admit I haven't tried finding a bottom for graphics performance anytime recently.

Ok well at least its a more modern IGPU. If i were you i would just do a bit of experimenting, see how far you can push the graphic settings whilst maintaining a 1080p resolution, I would not settle for a less than 1080p experience. If your still struggling to maintain stable fps then i would place an fps limit on what your laptop can comfortably achieve e.g. a 30fps limit.

And as Shadow states above, to test your performance put together the largest battle you can on the demo.
