SS 6.4
Stainless Steel 6.4 won't open in full screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Set the strategic and battle map resolution in game to at least the resolution of your monitor.
Alternatively open the mod's CFG file with Notepad and change the value of this line to 0 (zero):

windowed = 1

I tried the monitor resolution. No luck. Where does one find the CFG file? Doesn't appear as such in the mod file. Thanks for getting back.

The CFG file is in the mod's root folder: right click the mod's desktop shortcut and choose 'open file location', that will get you there.

The only thing with CFG is called 'default.cfg'. There is no line in the file for windowed=1 or anything else. There is a line that says windowed=true and one that says borderless_window=true.

Tried various combinations, no luck. Ran a compatibility check. Choosing Display Settings: Scaling on high DPI, whatever that is, worked. Go figure. Now will see if the game continues to crash.

'true' is the same as 1
Either change that to windowed = false or 0 (zero)

I tried doing exactly that, once you told me where to go, hence my comment about 'various combinations'. Neither worked. That's when I tried the compatibility route.

That setting is what governs full screen or not. SS got it's own executable for start up so maybe something is going on there. Try another approach:
1. disable the windowed line in the CFG file by placing a semi-colon ( ; ) in front of it , save
2. install my little set up: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=352216
3. Browse to it's CFG file, remove the hash in front of the windowed line and set the value to numerical zero
4. start the set up, you should have full screen now - that value should also be written to the default CFG file (changing values manually in the default CFG gets reversed)
5. exit to desktop and start SS
