Doooh?

Can't get much older then the present version, unless you pine for the initial\first medieval total war. https://store.steampowered.com/app/345260/Medieval_Total_War__Collection/

Note: 'definitive' didn't change anything file\data wise in M2TW, that was just a marketing gimmick by way of giving the DLC for free.

i have been playing mwt2 for litteral 20 years now, it was the very first pc game i ever owned personally .. the defenitive edition is completely fine in fact im actually dissapointed ipad has the abillity to choose faction heirs while the core pc version does not have this mechanic.

Yup, the Mac version makes nice use of the 64bit executable (32bit for the original) and they threw in a few things like this originally RTW feature (choosing heir) with it.
Pity they didn't reactivate sapping as well...

Nice, and LOL - 'classic' without RTW.

...well actually the totally 1st game of TW franchise saga was the SHOGUN TW back in end of 1990-s. And it immediatelly shown that it's playing in own league , no other strategy game out there could hold that level back then. Actually when considering all CA's TW-franchise games they are alone in it's own top league, till up to nowadays. Only thing I got not amused at all were those "marketing"-triggered versions with of Warhammer etc, as i do prefer rather historically genuine games where TW is still on absolute TOP for nearly two and half decades by now

Honestly, the Warhammer ones are probably the most "historical accurate" of the series.
The rest are more like distantly inspired on reality, perhaps?
