I think I fixed it...
went the full nuclear option and just deleted all my files/mods for MTW2, uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, and then verified for required files for the game. Then I made a copy of Medieval for KIngdoms.exe, and installed Kingdoms Grand Campaign as my first mod for a fresh start. Seems to be working now. I think I just had way to many downloaded files, many of which were not installed properly from many years ago of my first attempts at doing mods.
I would assume some mod files ended up in the main directory and thus caused constant issues.
I'm not sure which file specifically was causing me trouble, so I just decided a cleanup was what was needed to ensure it worked again. I think I had a lot of failed mod attempts from when renaming kingdoms folders and older methods of installing mods was still prevalent, lot of it just ended up in the main medieval folder. Can't tell at all where the issues start, it looked like a nightmare of unpacked files.
whelp nvm, it's happening again
I'm going to make the assumption that this is not a troll comment, I purchased the game on steam years ago.
Okay, that gives me some relief that this might be an issue universally and not just on my end.
Out of curiosity to rule things out, did you install a new driver for your nvidia card?
No updates or new drivers installed for Nvida card. Tried also running in compatibility mod with no luck
Okay, so then that't probably not what's causing it, since I updated my driver two days ago. I'm stumped.
We can easily see that isn't true.
2/10 bait.
