character_reset command not working - character names?
I used to be able to use this command with minimal issues in the past, but now I can't seem to use it for anybody. How do I find the names or ensure it still works? I really only ever used it to move characters around more than once in a turn or to attack multiple times per turn, but now I can't get the command to work at all. "character not recognized". How do I get the character names or what is the proper format, for example, in the Americas campaign:

Governor Pedro

Or maybe just play the game as intended...
it should be character_reset "Pedro"

If the character has a last name displayed, or a family member with a last name, you can try adding that as character_reset "Pedro Lastname"

sometimes the characters have a place-name or moniker, and it may be something like "Pedro of_Havanna" or something similar. if you play around with it from there, it shouldnt be hard to figure out the individual names.

Or... and roll with me... I have a life, and don't feel like dedicating hours on end to watch a single army of troops take 50 turns to get across the map to fight off the French in Florida while I'm busy with the Mayans, Aztecs, and every other faction at my gates.

I have respect for those who play these types of games normal, who play the long haul and actually win that way. I do, but at the same time... I've beaten this game before, I'm playing this more as a revisit not a restart, and I have plenty of other games and modes that eat away at my time. There's no fun in tediousness.

If you 'fight of the French' then why do you need to move 50 turns? If they are that far away then why bother? You appear to be playing as the Spanish and should have ships at your disposal to ferry those troops to Florida if you really need to. I'm probably missing something as I haven't played americas in ages.

As to your solution: check in descr_strat for the full name of the governor, in your case it's the ascended heir, not the original leader:
character Diego Velazquez, named character, male, leader character Pedro, named character, male, heir
Then use the format CG suggests. Fun fact: The original leader would either not display the first or the surname because of the 'governor' epithet. The command however requires the full name.
