But....using cheats aint appreciated
What I do is edited the starting money + the King's Purse in the Descr_stat both in Vanilla as in Third Age. This doesn't affect much of the game but it does allow you (and the AI) to create an economy faster + sustain a decent army in the early stages of the game, plus....atleast in Vanilla, it'd creates more the idea and picture of large scale armies because AI and myself can sustain bigger armies.
I've yet to see that in Third Age but then again, I've taken most of the required settlements within 100 turns with High Elves and Dwarves when I played a campaign, which is kinda boring.
Playing as Gondor crashes most games, somehow battles against Harad are hazardous due to crashing for some reason.
Well, the name says it already, for the Smith of Eregion you'll need the Eregion area (you can only recruit them in that city!), you'll need the required building AND the required culture.
Open your descr_units.txt (or export_descr_units.txt) and search up the name there - although you may have to do a fair deal of digging to find it.
Also check your spaces and your underscores.
For example, in the base game, in order to create_unit the Retinue Longbowmen, one would have to type in "Dismounted Longbowmen" instead of "Retinue Longbowmen", because the game identifies them as "Dismounted Longbowmen" and displays their name as "Retinue Longbowmen"
