Thats not really Infantry in my view as it´s an ranged Unit. Lean more towards Viking Axemen from Norway.

Im gonna have to agree here, although the cannons of the holy shelpture (i buchered the name) are rly good too

Base game I'm pretty sure there is a broad agreement that Venetian Heavy Infantry are in their own tier. There are a couple of units they lose to one vs. one, but they are super-late game and have much higher upkeep.

All roads lead to flemish pikemen. The best defense pikes, with massive morale bonus if mixed with swiss pikes, religious fanatics etc.

janissary Musketeers.

ive recently defeated the timiurids in open field battles as turkey where i spammed muskets cannons and saracen militia. and absolulety slaughtered the timmys.
never used muskets before but they are actually really good.

pretty sure the best unit is the Hungarian battlefield assassin. It can hide anywhere and in theory you could get them in the high period.

Best infantry in Vanilla are Conquistadores, and in Kingdoms are the Canons of Holy Sepulcrer. There is no discussion here, they're just the best inf

This. They are like the Spartan hoplite unit in Rome Total War, ridiculous at just pinning down a unit (e.g. you have them in front of your gate for a siege and they'll last forever), and unlike pikemen they're also good shock troops.

Italian Spear Militia. Not the best in terms of stats and raw power but they carry you through the early to mid-game with ease.
