Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

How to lower FPS?
So, been playing the game, checked the fps and found the game was running at 400 fps, Anyway to lower it? It's overheating my pc (well like 72-73c but still) tried using nvidia control panel and still wouldn't go down.

Had a discussion about it barely a week ago. Conclusion was that even though Nvidia has a setting where FPS can be controlled it somehow does not work for the game.

I actually think at a later stage in the discussion a solution was found. Something about Vsync setting int the Nvidia app.

im sure you can cap the fps in the nvidia app, do it for all games or only for the exe of the game you want to cap, worked for me for all other games where i set a cap, you can also as the comment above me suggested use vsyinc in the nvidia app should also work.

Just checked my setting in the Nvidia Control Panel based on that discussion I mentioned:

Global Vsync is set to: use the 3D application setting
Global Max frame rate is off.

Med2 settings: all default except frame rate (your choice here) and vsync (off)

Works like a charm

If you are also interested in good sound then re-enable surround sound:

Whats crazy is that I can limit fps in other games with Nvidia panel, but with Medieval 2 just refuses to comply with the set frame cap
Gigantus Dec 7, 2024 @ 7:44pm
It did some test settings and noticed that my FPS didn't change if I played various combination of the Vsync and FPS setting in global as well game specific setting int he Nvidia CP - a steady 60 FPS in menu and campaign.
And then I opened the ingame video options and enabled Vsync - 650 FPS in the menu.

I think on top of all the Nvidia settings you also need to disable Vsync in the in game setting.

Edit: I have a sneaking suspicion that enabling vsync limits FPS equal to the refresh rate of the monitor as I am getting 60 in both.

Im really out of options here man,I tried everything AND I MEAN EVERYTHING.M2TW just wont ducking run at 30fps for me... :(

Every other game on my pc comply with the frame cap I set at the Nvidia Control Panel, but M2TW just refuses to comply,I have no idea why.

I need the game to run at 30fps because I have a "unit destination glitch" where when I press space bar to see where are my units heading the placemant of the units is flickering like crazy

I used steam version of M2TW definitive edition and I pirated a copy of M2TW Kingdoms still same result...game is just overriding the frame cap set in the Nvidia CP
Gigantus Dec 8, 2024 @ 7:18pm
I think your best result would be 60 FPS. Simply activating vsync from within the game options (advanced video) does it for me - regardless of Nvidia panel settings.

As to the spacebar action - do not press continuously.

Nahh VSync lowers frames a bit for me but they are still above 180 in menus and around 140 in battles, the spacebar advice you gave me doesn't help at all

For anybody wondering in the future I tried RivaTuner Statistics Server program and it works like a charm, solid 30 fps or 60 whatever you want.
