This did not happen very often in Medieval times untill larger kingdoms started developing. If we wanted a histrocially accurate version of the game, the Byzantine and Muslim factions would murder most of Europe considering how divided it all would be at the start of the game.
Basically, if you want something mildly more realistic then go for Crusader Kings II and other Paradox Games.
If you want a game where you will fight a lot and be tactical, go for TW games.
I mean in this game we got freaking Sherwood Archers and witches curses. The obsessed suitor retinue for princesses is a guy wearing a tux. Gunpowder weapons are all unlocked at once instead of being gradually improved. Scotish armies don't have long bows and their early troops are more inspired by Braveheart than history.
All that being said, Medieval 2 is one of the more accurate TW games. Actually it's surprising how accurate it is given how chaotic the time period is.
a tiny itty bit of land. I want a mod or game where they figure this out and go take on the Monsoon marketplace regions and Iceland and Russia and (perhaps) further afield.
If it helps, you can conquer the Americas at turn 200 or so, however you need very good ships to cross the ocean (early ships can't cross deep water)
