Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Become king of 2 factions
Is it possible to become king of 2 factions on the vanilla version? Like, with marriages?

If not can someone tell me a mod that let's me see other factions family trees, so that I can do smart marriages and all that?
Also, if the mod has improved diplomacy in general even better.

Marriages allow something similar to that in Medieval 1 Total War. I don't know of any mods for medieval 2 which allow that.

That is a great idea to tell Creative Assembly (the game company that makes Total War games) for a future game. You could write to them here:

Your best bet is to play in hotseat and select two factions, then you can play them both as allies or whatever you choose.

You can only create an A/I alliance with marriage, you don't get to control them unless you inherit the kingdom through the Queen surviving the rest of the family tree, but I have never seen that work.

Does inheritance of another faction's land happen in M2TW? I heard that it only happens in MTW.

In vanilla NO. But in M2TW's mod Bellum Crucis YES.

Sweet, thanks for letting us know about that mod. I'd like to play that. :steamhappy:
Thanks for the help everyone!

The only reason I haven't done this so far it's because I can't play the newest games (craptop) and I thought Creative Assembly would have already done this on their most recent games, unless it wouldn't fit the diplomacy mechanics.

No, Creative Aseembly haven't done it for any games since the ogirinal Medieval Total War, as far as I am aware.
It's not possible. Tried with England and Scotland. Married into family with princess to heir, killed all the other male members, killed the king (thus the husbands became king) then killed him.
Faction defeated.

...
Yeah, but you can roleplay taking it over I guess, if you dont get caught up to that point you can freely with no diplomatic penalty and with great ease take any rebel holdings Scotland had, so you can pretend you inherited the crown but the native lords said nah...

Yes, just take over their lands :P
heh.
Basically. Though you can always buy the land. Suprisngly easy to do. I usually buy most of France early in the game from the French and the English (if I'm not one of those two).

Offer 'em anything "Very Generous" then ask for a city in return :P
You could make them your vassal. Whilst you aren't technically king of both, your kingdom basically leads theirs
Or, in the case of my latest game, become a vassal of theirs and laugh as the HRE techincally controls ten different factions and the majority of the map (then cease laughing as they start to take over every other vasal :0 ).

Sounds like the Mongol tactic. They made factions their vassal then took 'em out.
Worked for Russia. Poland, Hungary, very nearly Turks (one city left), and they managed to smash through nearly all of the Holy Roman Empire. :P
