Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

[MODDING] how to add the the warman's animations ?
hell...o,

as you probably know, 3 main mods are (by different ways) improved in term of animations (unlocking mainly CA's hide animations), thanks to warman and some otehr who have done an awesome job !

precisely, they are mostly death animations... we cant count between 10 and 15 new animations including around 5 "long duel" animations (= "fatality").

the mainly improved mods by these aniamtions are:

(highly loved) TATW = THIRD AGE TOTAL WAR : examples https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKwCmv7EK18

(real beloved) DLV = DEUS LO VULT : examples https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjugH69YhOQ

(bit late compared to the other in term of anims) SS = STAINLESS STEEL : http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?406072-Warman-s-Animation-Submod-Version-1-new-death-anims

you can check on youtube more videos and infos about it, these aniamtions are great ! and REALLY needed !

i've got TATW and DLV and their animations files ("pack.dat", "pack.idx", "skeleton.dat" and "skeleton.idx") and each "descr_skeleton.txt" file tied to each of them. :steambored:

*******************************************************************
>GOAL<:steamfacepalm:
*******************************************************************
=> my goal is to add these new animations into my medieval 2 total war using retrofit (+GUAM) mod (by adding teh new animations to already existing "types of animations of retrofit/original game") <=
*******************************************************************

simply replacing all described files from the otehr mods to my version is not working because both DLV and TATW divide the aniamtiosn in more complex "types".

so i bet i have to do it the hard way: isolating the "new animations" from the other mod (i have chosen DLV i think it is easier) in "descr_skeleton.txt" to include them in the file (same name) of my mod

AND

extracting the animations from the mods in order to allow medieval 2 to repack only the needed files automatically.

but here are my problems:

1) how to make sure i take all the lines tied to each new animations ? how to recognize ?

2) how to extract the "packed" animations from "pack.dat", "pack.idx", "skeleton.dat" and "skeleton.idx" ? (none of the tools i found on TWC were working... or links are dead...) ?

NOTAE: :steamsad:

- i use notepad++ and online "txt file comparing" (i identified that way much "candidates" lines to be the new animations i have to isolate).

- i have read nearly everything about that subject (most discussions are from TWC (= total war center)), but nothing is really talking about "taking only the new/warman's animations to put them in any mod we want".

- i am aware of the "auto animations packing" system in medieval 2, but the problem is to UNPACK the files.

- i can provide the needed files (listed previously) by MEGA if some modders want to help (i use MEGA account)

*IMPORTANT* THESE FILES ARE NOT CREATED BY ME, ALL CREDITS GO TO WARMAN AND ALL THE MODDERS OF THE MODS LISTED IN MY POST, I WONT GIVE DOWNLOAD LINKS ON PUBLIC DISCUSSIONS BECAUSE I HAVE NO RIGHT TO EDIT MOD FILES + GIVE THEM THAT WAY, EXEPT if this mod-working is "ACEPTED" as "submods" (so the interested players should ask me for the files in private if you need the files i talk about)

- i will continue to look for the solution in a really hard way, my point here is just to see if i can get help to accelerate the process (and learn tips !) or/and even make other players profit my discoveries ! :steamsalty:

if anyone got infos/help to give, it could help a great lot in adding the awesome animations in ANY versions of the game !

if anyone is interested in the same problem and want to post my post on TWC, i will appreciate it (one day perhaps, i will post on that forum...)

PS: if i did mistakes in any ways, or if i am not clear in some ways, please tell me, anything that would improve my way of writing/explaining/coding/editing is always a great thing ! :steamhappy:

have fun everyone ! :steammocking:
