The trouble with Total War Center is that it has dead, in development or wildly different focused mods all in one great mush, so getting lost there is understandable. Hopefully the above points towards some interesting works to try that are more ambitious than gig's suggestion but less entirely divergent than the likes of Third Age and EB2 above, set in Middle Earth and the early Roman period respectively.
Do not go in expecting a remaster in the immediate future. Aside from some ENB tweakage, there is no substantial graphics rework that isn't a part of a larger mod project.
