Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

What mods for an absolute beginner ?
Hi, never had the chance to play this one at the time (my computer was way too meh) and would like to give it a go but may be with some mods to improve the experience without changing the core game ? like graphical mods, UI, bug patching, etc.. I went to TWCenter but got lost quickly, did not know where to begin. Any advices?
thanks a lot

Land to Conquer is a fairly competent, seasoned and yet not (in my experience anyway) hardcore mod, a lite of more esteemed projects like Stainless Steel. Which itself is very Medieval 2 + in nature. Total Vanilla has its following for a Vanilla +, but is subject to discretionary differences you may or may not appreciate. It's worth noting that mods tend to come as full expansions and not as piecemeal patches; the piecemeals are more involved to install and are typically meant to be bundled with more sweeping projects, much unlike later games.

The trouble with Total War Center is that it has dead, in development or wildly different focused mods all in one great mush, so getting lost there is understandable. Hopefully the above points towards some interesting works to try that are more ambitious than gig's suggestion but less entirely divergent than the likes of Third Age and EB2 above, set in Middle Earth and the early Roman period respectively.

Do not go in expecting a remaster in the immediate future. Aside from some ENB tweakage, there is no substantial graphics rework that isn't a part of a larger mod project.
Vanilla Beyond
Best way to experience vanilla is to play at least one campaign normal, then if you're hungry for more, install a mod that overhauls or adds new content. Yes, the vanilla experience is a bit barebones, but with that knowledge under your belt, you will gain a better understanding why changes were made, since the modding community for Med2 tends to have a very good grasp of the game's mechanics, and know how to introduce balance changes that improve the experience, rather than hinder it (I'm looking at you, Warhammer modders).
Sorry guys for the late reply, and thank you all for your advice, there are a lot of interesting things there, and I'll check this all when I'll be done with my first english campaign
