Once clicked the army then has the benefit of increased movement and zero (low?) upkeep. The background of the unit cards should together with a symbol indicating the warpath.
It's the jihad, graphically\textwise adapted from the jihaad mechanic of the default game.
The warpath itself can be triggered by a priest (imam) that has a certain piety level, I think it's 3
Ok, so I guess what I must have missed -- the Wiseman has to be in the army as well?
To join it you need a general + the minimum required of units.
Ok, so I had clicked on that button and it said a Warpath had started... but didn't notice any other change.
Is it supposed to be similar to Crusade/Jihad, where the target army gets an icon on it's banner? Because the army I had out, with a family member chief, did not change in any way.
The Wiseman icon was clicked, it turned grey, I got an announcement of a Warpath on a rebel settlement. The next turn I used the closest army (led by family member) to attack and take settlement.
Did I have to wait an extra turn for that army to turn into a Warpath army?
You still need to tell generals to join the warpath like you would tell them to join a crusade or jihad.
Okay that helps, I'll be sure to do that next time.
Summary:
1. Get a wiseman to declare the warpath, if already declared by other faction go to point 2
2. Assemble an army with a named character and at least 10 units (no limit to number of armies that can join)
3. Click warpath button on named characters 'profile page'
4. Visual changes as described before should now be visible in the armies unit picture display and on it's strat map banner
5. Follow usual guide lines on crusades on how to prevent desertion while on a warpath
Yes, the button, on both the Wiseman, then on the profile of the General, need to be clicked... I didn't see the one for the General, as I guess I was just clicking on the army as a whole. (Or if that button is there as well, I didn't see it.)
Part of the issue is that I'd just returned to MTW2 after a decade.
