How to Play As Mongols/Timurids on the Grand Campaign?

So I wanna try out the Horde factions of the Mongols and the Timurids. I tried the one where you add a few lines in the multiplayer portion of the medieval2.preferences.cfg but the thing is that it didn't work. Attempting to move the Mongols and Timurids to "playable" on that descr_strat file only crashed the game if I attempted to play as them.

So is there anything without mods that can let me play as the Mongols/Timurids? If mods are required, which ones then? (I prefer methods without mods)

I think you need mods to do that - try Stainless Steel

try ss.64 if you need help give lionheart10 or pixalated appollo youtube channals try. they both helped me through the steps. but sadly only way to play mongols and tims. and ss.64 maybe darthmod idk. but ss.64 is a 100% but very long turn times about 5mins to 10 mins a turn.

you may also want to change
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 0

if you dont have a [multiplayer] section then you have to make appropriate changes to [hotseat] section
