Medieval II still not working on macOS Sonoma
It's been almost two months and still no word on how the fix for Medieval II on the Sonoma version of macOS is coming along (they even closed the discussion on the topic). Has anybody on mac found a way to make ts playable again (besides reverting to a previous version of macOS)?

I'm not sure what you're expecting considering this is a 18 year old game... Also lets face it, MAC isn't really designed for gamers in the first place. We all make informed decisions when we buy products, weighing the pros and cons of MAC vs PC, Windows vs Linux, etc, heck outright owning a computer rather than say just an iPad and a console. The fact of the matter is that MAC support for PC games in general is never a priority, mostly due to the above reason, especially when it comes to backwards compatibility which is a known issue in MAC and Apple products in general, that's the way Apple wants it so you keep buying new products(hardware and software alike) all the time rather than stick to old reliable products that don't make them further money.

The issue is caused by a change in the way macOS Sonoma handles video files. We have attempted a temporary fix for the issue by disabling video playback for users on macOS Sonoma, but are aware that there are a few video files that have not been affected by our fix. The videos that have not been impacted by our temporary fix are stored in a separate file location to the main videos.

It is likely that the issue will remain until we release our full update for the game to fully resolve the underlying issues with video. We have a workaround that should help you play in the meantime, which involves deleting the additional video files manually:

- Open Steam
- Right click the game in your Library
- Select Properties > Installed Files > Browse
- Go to Medieval2Data > localised > en > data > fmv > event
- Delete all of the video files from this folder by dragging them to the Trash
- Launch the game again

This should disable all of the extra videos in the game and will allow you to play.

Please also contact our support team via support@feralinteractive.com to be kept informed when the full update is available.
