Cant click on ingame buttons. HELP

I have played a good number of turns, kicking around scotland, nearly killed france, have started winning a war with the holy roman empire and singlehandly completed a crusade.

I encountered a issue suddenly yesterday where I can't click on any ingame buttons. Nothing has changed in my setup since 2 days ago when things were working perfectly.

I have tried verifying the game, relaunching, rebooting,etc.

I can command my armies and agents.
Access my cities to order buildings and army training.


I can't click the finacial menu but can use the keyboard shortcut
I can't click the missions menu but can use the keyboard.

I can't click the endturn and there appears to be no shortcut to get around this issue.

EDIT: I just loaded an autosave, losing at most 1-2 turns.

Weird, one would expect a total non function of the mouse, not a partial one.
Do the symbols highlight when you mouse over them?

They do, the missions and finance buttons reveal the keyboard shortcut when hovered over.

Definitely a game issue then. Never heard of this before, but you could give compatibility a try:

right click the medieval2 executable file and choose properties
click on compatibility tab
set mode to Win7
select run as admin
click DPI settings and select override
click ok and then apply

Repeat for kingdoms executable if present

Maybe a simpler solution, do you have a controller plugged into your pc?
