Every mod uses a BAT file to start and a great number use an installer (exe based). You can try to run the mod via steam's custom launch option or a modified desktop shortcut - but both those methods have their pitfalls.
Here is my repack for KGCM: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?798293
Been using the mod noticed a bug while playing the large city don't apply the ballista tower upgrade during siege battles, despite it being built. Not sure what caused it but fixed it by replacing the descr_walls with the one from the base game.
I can confirm that wall level 2 is missing the ballista tower section. No idea why, the oil stuff is certainly there so it's a kingdoms file.
Using descr_walls from any kingdoms mod will fix that, like from my small modding set up: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?352216
Or adding this section if you know how to edit the file:
