Grand Campaign Kingdoms Mod
Can anyone comfirm if the Grand Campaign Mod which includes Kingdoms factions in the vanilla campaign is safe to download? I don't really trust .exe and .bat files but really would love to try the mod. Would be great if CA did a remaster and included something like the mod

Which mod do you mean? Total-Vanilla-beyond is save to download and has many of the Kingdoms mechanics. I never had problems with any of the downloads from moddb, also total war center downloads are save. https://www.moddb.com/mods/total-vanilla-beyond/images/image-9#imagebox also you may take a look at Roar of Conquest, more europe and asia focused without america and introduces some new factions as well. It´s just a simple unpack and play if Installing mods trough exe. is your main concern. https://www.moddb.com/mods/roar-of-conquest Considering the current state of CA I wouldn´t trust them with any Remaster and surely not with including mods since they release fewer modding tools with each game and trying to sell more DLC´s

"I don't really trust .exe and .bat files but really would love to try the mod."

Every mod uses a BAT file to start and a great number use an installer (exe based). You can try to run the mod via steam's custom launch option or a modified desktop shortcut - but both those methods have their pitfalls.

Here is my repack for KGCM: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?798293

Thanks guys I think I'll give KGCM a try. Mainly looking for vanilla campaign with kingdoms models, mechanics, units etc, without changing much. I appreciate the responses

Been using the mod noticed a bug while playing the large city don't apply the ballista tower upgrade during siege battles, despite it being built. Not sure what caused it but fixed it by replacing the descr_walls with the one from the base game.

I´m not sure what caused it either but just in case boiling oil from gates suddenly doesn´t work anymore after you replaced the descr_walls maybe try a descr_walls from one of the expansions. This feature was new in Kingdoms, if I remember correctly, and I´m not sure if the entry for boiling oil was already there in the base game.

Boiling oil requires the descr_walls file from the expansion. Using the one form the base game will remove the oil.

I can confirm that wall level 2 is missing the ballista tower section. No idea why, the oil stuff is certainly there so it's a kingdoms file.
Using descr_walls from any kingdoms mod will fix that, like from my small modding set up: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?352216

Or adding this section if you know how to edit the file:
level { stat 40, 0, tower_ballista, 150, 10, siege_missile, artillery_mechanical, piercing, ballista_tower, 350, 1 stat_attr no shot_sfx TOWER_BALLISTA_FIRING fire_angle 45 ; unit size reload_ms flaming_reload_ms fire_rate small 18500 19500 fire_rate normal 16000 18500 fire_rate large 14000 16500 fire_rate huge 13500 15000 }

An updated, extensive patch by delphor is in the works which will include the fix for this.
