If you have that ticked off, then are you using any "large" units like spiders or trolls?
Also, a possible fix is to turn down both vegetation and grass, as well as shadows in the graphics settings.
Well if that didn't work, try looking for patches on TWcenter.
I just might do that. It's the weirdest deal. Recently I have had three battles go without any errors but the fourth one (which was about the same size as the others) I had another crash only it froze rather than bring up an error window.
Well I know for a fact that you're far from being alone with this problem. Me and my mates had it too, it was quite random so... we simply stopped playing... (stainless steel so much better) anyway didnt look for it but there must be a patch or some fix...
Other than that, I don't quite know. Consider turning down the Unit Detail and Building Detail.
Also, are you fighting in one of the Arthedain settlements? Those can cause crashes.
Not sure where a recent one is, but just look on twcenter
Daylight Savings isn't an in-game option, it's a windows option. Personally, my TATW tended to crash alot when I played on a map with water.
Unfortunately, many battle crash to desktop issues with TATW are mainly the fault of the modders in the way they handled certain files. So theres not much you can do but hope for having a stable battle or to auto-resolve the battle if it's constant.
