So...most mods are like the Starcraft Mass Recall mod for Starcraft 2...punishingly difficult for people who aren't that great at RTS...crap...
Either way, in HTW, how hard is Hyrule Historia mode? (assuming I'm correct in assuming it's the main campaign, and assuming the main campaign, like Starcraft and Warcraft 3, acts as an extended preview for the various factions).
Here are some pages about M2TW mods:

Well, the closest that I'll be getting it is winter, so I can wait.
Every single one of the M2 mods are made by expert Total War players who are bored with the stupidity of the AI. They make their mods difficult for their skill level, which is absurdly high. (Like taking over the whole map in 14 turns as the Turks).
TATW is an amazing submod. However, it works rather differently to the main game & you need to know how to exploit, abuse, and generally laugh at the AI before you'll get ANYWHERE in it.
HTW has factions with glaring weaknesses & you need to know how to cope with those & what to do.
(Oh, and to run mods you really do need the Kingdoms DLC.)
