Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

What mods do you recomend me?
Hello I've played Stainless Steel and even though I liked it, it crashed frequently until I've downloaded the 4G patch and even then it crashed sometimes but my biggest issue with it is that crossbows are ♥♥♥♥ and doesn't fire most of the time you tell them to do it, especially in sieges I suppose the walls affects them. But anyways do you know any good mod? I know Titanium and SSHIP and this last one of what people say has a function where when you take a settlement you lose reputation and for me this is dumb, Titanium only covers medieval era and not renainsance (not a big deal but I like the vanila essence of both medieval times and renainsance times).
Thanks in advance

Loosing reputation when occupying is an old bug of the default game. Unlikely that SSHIP or Titanium haven't fixed that one.

Renaissance isn't covered much, but maybe you find something in this list: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?556-M2TW-Kingdoms-Hosted-Modifications

third age divide and conquer is still the best medieval2 mod of all time, so there's that.

I've heard of it and although I want to play it, first I want to play a mod that has a better aproach to vanilla, bassically vanilla plus, en enhancment mod like SS, would you recomedn Titanium or SSHIP? But now that I am thinking, although SS has bugged crossbowmen I might go back to it still by using Gigantus guide. Anyways thanks for the answer too and is third age MP alive?

You lose relations (with the target and their allies), not reputation, this is a common myth. The relevant portion of the old taw's blog post https://t-a-w.blogspot.com/2009/11/why-everyone-hates-you-in-medieval-2.html :
Treatment of civilians is supposed to affect your reputation:
Occupying a settlement peacefully: +0.05
Sacking a settlement: -0.02
Exterminating population: -0.05
But due to a bug the first never happens. Here's the data file:
;------------------------------------------
Trigger 0103_occupy_settlement_increase_global
WhenToTest OccupySettlement

FactionStanding global 0.05
FactionStanding target_faction normalise 1.0 20
FactionStanding target_allies normalise 1.0 40
; FactionStanding target_enemies normalise -1.0 40

;------------------------------------------
;Trigger 0102_city_razed_decrease_global
; WhenToTest CitySacked

FactionStanding global -0.05
FactionStanding target_faction normalise -1.0 10
FactionStanding target_allies normalise -1.0 20
; FactionStanding target_enemies normalise 1.0 20
Semicolon means code is commented out and inactive. The first event describes what happens when settlement is peacefully occupied. The second is old sacking code, probably from Rome Total War times. It's supposed to be commented out, but only trigger was commented out, the effects were not. So the results are equivalent to:
;------------------------------------------
Trigger 0103_occupy_settlement_increase_global
WhenToTest OccupySettlement

FactionStanding target_faction normalise 1.0 20
FactionStanding target_faction normalise -1.0 10
FactionStanding target_allies normalise 1.0 40
FactionStanding target_allies normalise -1.0 20

FactionStanding global is the reputation, the bonus you are supposed to get is cancelled out by the bugged code, you are not getting a net reputation penalty.

That out of the way, I have been enjoying JLMPs vanilla kingdoms 2021, I think he did something in descr_projectiles for the crossbows. Unfortunately there is a weird bug where not everyone in the unit fires sometimes.

Hello thanks for the answer.
So that does mean that when I take a settlement I won't lose reputation even though I could have sacked or exterminated their population? I don't always exterminite I do it especcialy with infidels settlements but I still want to ensure. And that mod you mention is a new mod on moddb? or is it a pain to install like SS in Total war centre?

When you occupy you don't lose reputation, sacking/exterminating you will.

Yes it's fairly new on moddb (he also announced it on TWC but the thread is not very active). Installation is simple, it's just the mod folder in an archive. He also made occupation improve reputation, if you prefer mods that do that.

Alright thanks and with it is not alive it makes sense people are now only with Warhammer and this died sadly, but anyways thanks for helping me.

I am going to have to check that out.

Apparently Divide and Conquer went stand alone and TW center removed it for violating its policy.
I did download Third age though. Still good?
I also downloaded DAC ver 4.6 stand alone mod.
Which is better?

What is the difference between divide and conquer and third age total war? I suppose both mods are about LOTR right? Which is better of both and the one that is alive for MP.

Best if you are obsessed with realism.
