Third age divide and conquer
for some reason when done downloading and doing all of the steps it didn't drop an icon, can I play the game without it, and so how?

Well if everything is done correctly.

I launch mods by going to the Steam Library -> Right click on Medieval 2 and go to properties -> Then head over to 'General' then to the launch options -> Copy and paste the following line
--features.mod=mods/Divide_And_Conquer (Should be the name of the file) -> Launch game and it should work.

This code works for all the other mods I play and place in the mods folder.

--features.mod=mods/(Name of mod in mods folder)

It ignores the configuration file of the mod which may have dedicated settings plus it restricts you to playing only one mod at a time.

Rather create a desktop shortcut yourself by going to the mod's folder which you will find by going into the library, selecting 'properties' and then clicking on 'local files' and then 'browse'. From there open the 'mods' directory and then open the DAC directory (not sure about the spelling of the directory). In there you will find a BAT (batch) file that you right click and then select 'send to\desktop'.
That's it, you have now a desktop shortcut to your mod.
