Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Playing on Modern PCS
I've tried running on my newish laptop, but get unplayeable framerates.
Specs are:

Windos 10 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4720 @ 2.60 GHz
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

Plays Rome 2 smoothly with most settings maxed, and I've been playing Medieval 2 on my two previous desktops for years. Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue with GTA4 on this laptop, turned out that the game wasn't recognizing my RAM, which was fixed with an .INI tweak. Is there something similar that can be done with this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Open your Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3D settings, go to the program settings on the right window, use the drop down menu to select Medieval2.exe, set manually to use the High Performance Graphics.

That will make sure it is not defaulting to the INTEL HD. Try this before anything else.

With an i7 4790K, 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD and GTX750ti SC, runs awful ( drops to 4, 5 fps). I can play the witcher 3, alien isolation and MGSV on high setings 60fps, and this game runs very bad. I think that the game uses only 1 core because when It was launched CPU's were monocore or dualcore.

Medieval 2 was made with multicore ability as it was made after the release of dual core CPUs.

The lag problems on the campaign map cannot be fixed when they occur on an INTEL cpu. At least not by Steam and not by Creative Assembly. This is an INTEL issue.

Even then...

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP
Celeron 1.5GHz Pentium 4® (1500MHz) or equivalent AMD® processor
512MB RAM
11GB of uncompressed free hard disk space
100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible 16-bit sound cardand latest drivers
100% Windows® 2000/XP compatible mouse,keyboard and latest drivers
DirectX® 9.0c
128MB Hardware Accelerated video card with Shader 1 support and the latest drivers. Must be 100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible
1024 x 768 minimum display resolution
Internet (TCP / IP) play supported; Internet play requires broadband connection and latest drivers; LAN play requires Network card.

We are playing on incompatible Operating Systems so INTEL will do nothing.

Delete medieval2.preference cfg. file, try to start again.
