Unit modding
Does anyone know of a guide on how to mod unit stats/size? I've looked around a bit but a lot of posts I've come across are rather outdated and didn't help me very much. I've never modded before and have absolutely no idea to what I'm doing. Thanks.

First thing you have to do is search for a guide on how to unpack the files in medieval 2 and how to activate them when modded. You can't start modding without unpacking and there's no point if the files aren't activated.

As for modding units stats, the file you're looking for is called 'export_descr_unit' it defines 95% of all the units stats and is all you need for simple modding most of the time.

These guides have all the information you need on the files:

The last one is for rome total war but it can give some extra info and it's handy to have around when the medieval 2 guides fall short.

Can't seem to get the unpacker to work, it says I'm missing a file and recommends me to reinstall the game. Did that, didn't work. Still getting the missing file error upon trying to use the unpacker.

Use this

It's vanilla but with all files unpacked and easy to mess around with
