Help with Gondor Divide and Conquer v4
So i just got Divide and Conquer after a lotr binge and i really wanted to play Gondor however around turn 6 a full stack of incrediblly elite orcs just crash down on me and i can hold them back, even in the fortress of cair andross, it seems i am stuck, any help with some opening moves for Gondor would be greatly appreciated

You pull all forces you have at t1 into Osgiliath and Cair Andros while building up the western regions of your realm.

Gondor is all about being defensive until the strentgh is there to attack. Dol Amroth takes care of Harondor but will need assistance to keep it.

You have 2 chokepoints you need to hold, maybe 3 if Isengard gets Rohan down.

So, you can set waypoints for every settlement (select settlement; hold alt and right click on campaign map, a blue circle should appear) so use that to send reinforcements directly to the frontline.

Build the armories; free garrison troops that you can throw away in every defensive siege cuz they always helpin defense if there is room for them. Good units for first contact while rest of your troops stay fresh, the enemy gets exhausted fighting your free troops.

Keep a reasonable garrison in coastal cities. Ar-Adunaim still have their corsair invasions so Pelargir, Linhir and Anfalas may get attacked by them. Simply make sure garrisons are set up and they cant do much.

Useful troops to have; Lebennin Marines - AP javelins, good for killing trolls and Great Beasts

Also dump a boatload of spies in the Ithilien region. No suprises like that coming for you.

Once you beat that army, Mordor will send you trash for along while, they just dumped all their starting forces in one army and send it your way.

Thank you, will try this and attempt this strat. Would it be wise to send benfalas pikemen to the mordor border?

Yeah, pikes are really great and especially against Mordor can take out a lot of trash.

Keep in mind that they do not deal extra damage against trolls. Trolls are infantry.

So eventually i did beat that death stack with all the elite rhunic units in it, but sadly lost one of my rangers as the fight was down to the last hundred men. Idk why Mordor is given such strength so early, it should be a buildup to get units like that.

I dont know about V4 but bumrushing was a very valid strategy for Gondor.

Everyone gets access to high powered troops at game start.

Not so much anymore, garrison in East Osgiliath has been increased and fairly certain Mordor gets more troops on game start if you play as Gondor to prevent you from doing so.

Plus Minas Morgul gets like 5 extra garrison troops even without the armoury building.
