Mongols Beeline to Jerusalem?
Why? Is it just that the player holds it?

I think their intent is to target the strongest faction, but their pathway-finding ability is terrible, so often times they seem to randomly advance then retreat across the map. Especially if they appear in the northern half of the map.
They will generally target Antioch or Kiev, if however they can't go there, they will target other locations.
Okay. I am jsut a bit annyoed as in my most recent Spain campagin they rushed to Jerusalem, took out my arrison there (they lost 1/2 of an army) and they have been bashing their heads agaisnt Acre and Gaza.

They took Acre, but having good generals with massive defensive armiesi n relatively high level forts just leads to lots of dead Mongols, but it seems that they have infinite armies.
Historically, the Mongols tried to push into Egypt but were defeated. They try to go as far west as possible and only stop when their stacks are depleted.
The mongols tend to beeline towards the holy land when they show up in the south. I believe its a combination of random chance of their target, what the player owns, and what has the weakest garrison when the AI makes this decision. Most of the time I'm down there, they target Antioch first.

but it seems that they have infinite armies.

The reason for this isn't just that the mongols have a lot of starting armies. What also factors in is that they also begin with a lot of wealth, and many of their units have 0 upkeep cost. So if they take hold anywhere, they'll keep multiplying while staying filthy rich. It can get kind of insane really.

Naturally best way to stop it is to make sure they don't get a chance to settle. Other options is assassin spam and sabotage all their buildings to stall their recruitment ques. You can also destroy all your buildings if they have you under siege and you know you won't be able to win.
They bleed dry eventually. The best policy is to just let them bleed out on the AI or hold your ground.
