Where did you get the mod from? I have personally only played the Beginning of End Times. So I'm not sure if there is any difference between the two in terms of installing.

I had no trouble playing the mod.

I got the Mod from Moddb, com. The beginning of end times is the one I am trying to install. Both Kingdoms and medieval 2 have the 4gb patch in folder. As far as I know I have tried many installs solutions so I think I have exhausted my options, to this point. However the one instance I haven't done is a total reinstall of Medieval which I don't want to do. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the reply

From what I can see, BotET is just a winzip extraction and then copy paste into the /mods folder.

You're not being that specific on the error you're getting though.
Where does it happen? What does the system.log say?

What have been your install methods?

My apologies on not being specific on my errors. First question do I unzip ? such as using winrar because I did unzip folder then I pasted it to Medieval 2 such as all my other mods like Stainless Steel ETC........ My other install methods was rename crusades to crusades 2 and changed BOTET to crusades

The only error I get is "We failed to prevent the end of times" "Chaos has doomed the World" At one point it almost seemed as it was going to start, The program got up to the loading screen then that message showed up. I also Have a folder named Kingdoms and I pasted the mod there as well and still got the same message. When I rename BOTET to crusades the program runs as if I was running the normal medieval 2 that works but not the correct game. This is so discouraging.

You're not supposed to have a folder called kingdoms?

All mods go to Medieval 2/mods. So even though you would dislike reinstalling Medieval 2, I think thats the first thingyou should do...manually delete the Medieval 2 folder, let steam reinstall the game.

Then use winzip/winrar/ 7zip on the BotET file you downloaded. Don't extract it into a different destination, just where you have that file.

Then when you open those folders, check if there isnt a subfolder. It could very well be that extracting it causes rhe folderstructure to be botet/botet/all files. That way it'll never run.

So, once ectraxted, take the botet/all files and copt that to medieval 2/mods.

Then go and find the medieval2.exe, copy this one and rename the copy to kingdoms.exe

That should start the mod no problem when you use the mods .bat.

Not happy to hear that but I guess it's a plan. this is what I will do

1. Uninstall Medieval 2
2, Uninstall the folder kingdoms
3. Uninstall anything related to Medieval 2 Total war including Mods, but keep the zip files.
4. Restart PC

Once PC is restarted I will unzip BOTET and send it to desktop, then go to the mods folder and drag the BOTET folder to the medieval 2 mods folder. Before I do the install of course I will copy medieval 2 and create a copy and rename it to Kingdoms.exe

How does that sound.
BTW thank you so much for your help and patience. I hope I get this right.

I don't know why that Kingdoms folder was there but i deleted it and I got a message saying it's too big to send to recycle bin so I had to permanently delete it

Now I am at a stand still in the process of deleting that folder a message opened up

The file "Thumbs" is a system file. If you remove it, Windows or another program may no longer work correctly. Are you sure you want to delete it? My choices are Yes, skip or cancel I am going to skip
Reckless Dec 7, 2019 @ 9:48am
After clicking skip like 10 times Kingdoms folder is deleted
Reckless Dec 7, 2019 @ 9:50am
Medieval 2 folder still exist in the steam/steamapps/common I will delete that as well
Reckless Dec 7, 2019 @ 9:59am
Ok everything has been deleted restarting PC

Ir looks like it will be awhile for the install, in the meanwhile I am going to unzip the BOTET file and leave it on my desktop
