Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Can I buy just the base game and not Kingdoms?
I've never played a TW game, but I'm interested in this one, but It's $25 and nearly 13 years old. I doubt it'll be on sale for $2.49 anymore, but is there any way I can purchase just the Base game for a reasonable price? I can't find just the base game on steam. Thanks

Here we go. First they wonder if they need base game to play Kingdoms, then after they combine them for one price.....they want just the base game.

Until yesterday you could. Now to get the base game only, your probably looking at going to some Used Old Game store for the CD disc version. But why would you not want Kingdoms? It has improved Ai, new factions, and allows you to use mods, if your able to understand that stuff and can handle the crashes.

It definetly will go on sale sooner or later.

As a newcomer to the Total War franchise, and this genre of games in general, Medieval II caught my eye. I heard is was one of the best in the franchise, and on sale, the base game was only $2.49. It seemed like a great way to see if the TW series was for me. Cheap, supposedly very good, and if it wasn't for me, then I only lost two dollars. But now the only way to get Medieval II is through a bundle including a major dlc for a game I don't even know I'll like. For most games, it takes longer time to truly appreciate the game than the refund window gives you, so if I take more than a few hours trying to learn the game and I don't like it, I just lost $25 instead of $2.49. I hope you will be able to understand how this is a dilemma for newcomers like myself. And I'll take your word Jack that the Kingdom DLC is great, but I don't want to purchase additional content just to receive the base game when I don't even know if the game's up my alley.

More than enough videos on YouTube. If you really want just base game, your best shot is with a disc version of the game. As for a sale, could be anytime, especially during the holidays. I dunno a set time for it.

Do you want/need more details on gameplay? Or just where the base game Is?

You can probably still find Medieval 2 base game cd-keys and discs on retailsites.

Here's a fun little thing you could do if you're able to find the base-game's disc with a valid activation key: use the key to activate it on Steam and because the base-game and the expansion is now bundled together you should be able to get access to the expansion, free of charge.

If you no longer can activate it then avoid physical copies of the game: because of a malicious DRM the game no longer works on current operating systems.

- It will go on sale eventually.
- It is $5 more, considerably cheaper than vanilla + expansion that virtually anyone with a serious interest in the game has.
- The base on steam no longer exists.
- Try looking at Rome 2's price tag off sale, this is nothing.

I can install my disc version and run it no problem.

Maybe you should update your Windows then.

Maybe you shouldn't use the crap that is windows 10?

For starters you're literally moving the goalposts.

Secondly, the same incompatibility is with both Windows 7 and 8, so are you saying people should be using even older operating systems than those?
Inardesco 2018 年 11 月 22 日 上午 6:38
I'm using windows 8.1 and can play my disc version without issue.

Then either update your operating system with KB3086255 because Microsoft prevented secdrv.sys from working, for good reasons, or alternatively stop using cracks...
Inardesco 2018 年 11 月 22 日 上午 6:43
My OS is up to date and I always use crack for disc version in order to keep the disc in one piece that I can still use in 10 years time.
