Need help getting rid of Pagan Heretics!

I have been putting priests next to the heretics to prevent any changes in religion, but nothing is working! what do i do?

Ive been trying, but there is no option to, do i need a bishop? and also, a new problem, i have enemy assassins in my region

Left click on your priest, then right click on the heretic. If that doesn't work, well, then I guess you're going to need to hire your own assassins to deal with them and the enemy assassins.

If you get really desperate, there is an exploitable bug to get rid of enemy agents. Surround them on all 8 sides with a single unit stack, then move a 9th on into the space they occupy. It will eliminate the agent. I don't like to use it because it is essetially cheating, but sometimes a heretic spawns and kills about 10 priests sent to take him out.

I only play SS6.4 mod but the action is the same - move the priest onto the heretic as if you were engaging two armies. I find heretics are a real pain and, atleast in SS6.4, priests are almost useless against them unless they have a lot of peity, bishops and cardinals the best. However, I just train up assassins to deal with heretics, other religion priests and assassins. I find a rebel and assassinate them until the assassin is leveled up a bit then go hunting. For what it is worth.

Hire an assassin. Make him good by killing rebel armies' captains.

generally speaking, assassinate all heretics and clergy of opposing faiths in your territories. this basic rule goes back to Medieval War I where Inquisitors could try and execute your generals. You had to assassinate Inquisitors before they did that. So, once you have territory garrisoned, start recruiting 2-3 assassins a city where there are heretics around. You may need to try to kill them more than once. If an assassin succeeds their skill level increases. use them again.

Ok yeah assassins work because, well... they are assassins HOWEVER it seems most of you are ignoring the people who are saying to use your priests/cardinals in an "attack" move since confronting heretics is part of their job. Also I think it's better in the long run, if you give a crap about Papal approval, to recruit a boatload of priests.

Master assassins all over the map is how I deal with any irritating non military unit
