Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Autoresolve Glitch?
Never had this happen before till now.

Ran into 2 small rebel armies. Only comprised of a single crossbow milita unit.

Auto resolved each one, obviously.

One was with a full stack and the other was just a general. Both were defeats with the AI losing none and my self losing 10-40 men.

The harder the setting, the more likely auto resolve is to favor the Ai. Or so I remember hearing.

Just reload, and charge them with heavy cavalry, and wipe them out. Any prisoners executed and avenge your defeat!
You sure you haven't typed ~auto_win defender before you autoresolved? Cuz unless those crossbowmen are absolute beasts, a full stack should defeat that easily as well as a general.
Autoresolve does not care about the nature of units, it only cares about the power rating. Even then, it can decide to be a jerk and give the AI an herioc victory repeatedly and never ever do that for you just by 'chance'.
Autoresolve takes the defence stats into account. Crossbowmen, last I checked, have sh!tty defence stats.

If your trying to say auto resolve accounts for the way units interact on the field, i strongly suggest you dont even bother going there, because you know full well that is a hopeless cause.
Autoresolve takes the defence stats, that's it. Which is why you can take a battle that's a crushing defeat in auto-resolve into an heroic victory on the field.

And vice versa.... i often switch to auto resolve when the terrain is very unfavourable, or the enemy has lots of ranged cavalry i could not counter at that time... Auto relolve also often gives better results than what i can do on the field where multiple armies are involved against Mongols.

One interesting thing though, When the odds are around 80% in my favour, on the power scale especially on a siege, i cannot beat the auto resolve result by going into battle myself? I figure because in a siege, i cannot engage every one of my units at the same time in battle, but that is what auto resolve is doing, so the advantage is there i guess?

But to get a heroic victory, You have to have a battle plan strategy... many times i find myself unable to execute a heroic victory that i was hoping to achieve because of the nature of the terrain and the nature of the enemy army and i find myself with no viable battle plan/no angle to persue, so i just exit the battle.
It's bound to be a glitch.

I'm on either hard/hard or medium/hard.

There's no way in hell a single unit of 76 crossbowmen beats 1176 men with 1/4 of that being heavy cavalry. I also had 4 units of Yeoman too.

Not sure those are the odds the OP meant is it?

The only way the AI could defeat an elite player with those odds is by way of being unreachable on a cliff!.... it happens from time to time and F-ing pisses me off!! but Auto resolve is the solution.

Autoresolve does also take unit HP into account and i'm pretty sure command is also a factor.
unit hp is pointless since most units only have 1 hp
Autoresolve is quite, quite, broken.

I've autoresolve 20 Dorf General Bodyguard against an 800 Harad Stack and won :S
Cuz dorf defence is waaaaay higher than Harad defence.
