Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

What is the new invasion mechanic in third age DaC?
I know I'm really late on this subject but I just can't find what this is all about. I read all of the change logs and everything. What is the dark lord of mordor faction and why does it say the dark lord is not currently present. Do I need to wait a certain time? Or do I need to hand the ring into mordor? Or is it completly different? Any help?

The mod developers pushed invasions back to later turns to give some factions that tend to have invasions called on them more time to prepare. If I remember correctly, they delayed it to turn 100.

Sauron = The Pope

Which means that he can call Crusades on the "good guys" and all Orc factions (Mordor, Angmar, Orcs of the Misty Mountains) can join the Crusade.

It used to be that Rhun, Harad, Khand and formerly Umbar could join in with the Crusade but due to the new culture/religion given to these factions, they no longer are capeable of joining the Crusade.

The DaC team removed Invasions/Crusades from the game in V2.0 because it'd cause the AI to send their armies far away from their homeland leaving them without troops to ward of the Gondorians.
