Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition

THIRD AGE TOTAL WAR keeps CRASHING, please read my problem and HELP me!!!
I'm extremely bad with technical things so after successfully downloading third age i was over the bloody moon. I started as Silvan elves, all was fine, i was loving life, then the game started crashing whenever i fought large dwarven armies. i looked up online easy fixes which includes changing settings to do with axe throwers, and also one to do with deleting some "new geography file" which i did, i also checked the daylight savings thing and still it crashes whenever i got into a large battle, only against the dwarves though. I then started as Gondor, again i was loving life, until the game crashed against a large Harrad army. I'm at a serious stand still and i don't get how players are able to enjoy uninterrupted game play on this amazing mod, someone please help me i really am desperate!!!!

LargeAdressAware.

The game is limited in the amount of hardware it can use. Thus, large scale battles, especially with mods, can cause the game to crash.
Part of the reason I have such a seamless TATW experience is because I save before every battle, so if the game crashes I have a save from right then.

If LAA doesn't help then you will have to reduce the unit size setting, you can find it in options\game settings\unit scale. Requires starting of a new campaign. I think TATW sets this to huge by default so you will have to do the change immediately before starting a new campaign, otherwise it will revert.

I have unit size on small and all graphics on the lowest possible settings, the game still crashes, this morning it crashed on a tiny battle, makes campiagn as any faction unjoyable as i now can't fight battles without auto-resolving from risk of the game crashing. Anyone have any ideas why this may be or what i can do to prevent this happening?

Have you bothered reading ALL the comments?

Certianly have, are you telling me there may be no fixing it?

There is a recommended fix that addresses a few issues - did you install that one?

From the install instructions:

2. Essential bug fixes for TATW 3.2 version:

Have you also applied said largeadressaware to increase the amount of hardware the game will utilise?

Also keep in mind that TA vanilla is heavily dependant on scripts that can break quite easily if the mod is installed and then renamed to a kingdoms campaign.

That's why the proper method is in the instructions and also available as stand alone guide

wait since when was this a thing or indeed a problem?

Since users forget that they have renamed the folder and install updates in the preset path. Shouldn't happen with vanilla, though - unless there are some fancy instrcutions in the mod's CFG file which could be the case with TATW's custom launcher to change settings, eg script or not etc. The launcher copy\pastes directoriy content within the mod (or was that SS?)

It has always been like that. Some files point to the install path to work and that can cause issues.

descr_banners can be one of them - had that in 1648
