They are more of a challenge faction, "how many settlements can you take before you go bankrupt and run out of money".
You can play the Mongols as a normal faction if you want by just taking a lot of cities during the first turns then disbanding most of your army, you will still have some very strong stacks.
Carve yourself a nice slice of the map as quickly as possible and then disband stacks, consolidating them to one or two, depending on your income. Which means don't bother with little villages.
that's a scripted event. i invaded england as france and when the scotts had one or two settlements left SIR WILLIAM WALLACE spawned his l33t army. then i wiped out their last settlements and william died but his army became a rebel army with some l33t units left.
wtf is gracul?
Gracul was the very first option and mentioned something like this by the creator of the mod:
"This makes the AI play with a style similar to my own. You will be backstabbed and other factions will prey on you if you are weak. Also makes AI more aggressive"
Something along those lines it was basically the settings that looked the most challenging.
