What excactly do fire arrows do?
I've heard multiple different things they do, such as more damage, longer reloads, cause morale loss on targetted troops, etc.

Are they any different or are they just placebo?

Fire arrows are less accurate, take longer to "reload" and damage enemy morale.

They are best used in situations where the enemy is shaken (but not sturred) in order to produce a mass rout.

As for burning siege engines and such, don't count on it. I've once had several archers spent all their arrows on burning a siege tower and it never happened. I rather want my ballista towers to burn them.

They burn siege engines, including rams and towers. Those were the only thing you forgot. Otherwise, your up to speed.

Oh and they spook the elephants of the Timurids.

Oh, so they don't seem as bad to me.

Still won't use them because fire arrows don't make sense

I suspect it's weather related, in that weather has all sorts of odd effects which are basically never noticed.

So desert archers in the desert should be absolutely fine, which they were not.

I thought I read somewhere fire arrows can kill those 2 hp armored generals with one hit.
