Resolved Medieval 2 Fatal Graphics Error on Windows 10
Solution
Installed to my other hard drive and then copied my friends preffrences file, after that just changed the settings in game.

When I try to launch the game it just crashes saying fatal graphics error.
I checked the log, it said i was missing files, so i verified the game files and that said all files sucessfuly verified.

Any help will be appreciated.

Before you post such threads ask yourself these questions;

Do I have mods installed?
Do I have said mods installed correctly?
Do I launch said mods correctly?

If no mods installed;

Do I really have all the files?
Have I tried to reinstall the game?
Do I run with admin rights?
Have I checked to run with compatibiltiy?

If all these answers are answered with yes, then be free to post a thread.

"Problem: First, this process seemed to resolve an error I was receiving when trying to launch Medieval II: Total War from Steam or the root .exe (Application type). I would get a black screen followed by a crash and an error message stating: "fatal graphics error."

Solution: Find Medieval II: Total War in your Steam folder; for most people this will be under the directory of: Local Disk (C:) -> Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> SteamApps -> Common -> Medieval II Total War
After you have opened the Medieval folder, locate the application "medieval2" and right click it. Select the "Troubleshoot compatibility" option. Follow the instructions and allow Windows (I'm running 8.1) to find a solution, it should recommend an option for running the game with Windows Vista (32 bit) compatibility. Select that option and choose to "test program." If it works, then it should launch the game immediately without any error. From there, you can go in and select your optimal settings for the game. From now on, you should be able to launch the game without any issues.

Hope this helps some people!"

No did not work for me
Thanks for all the help but i found a solution that worked for me:

Installed to my other hard drive and then copied my friends preffrences file, after that just changed the settings in game.
In case anyone else has this issue, rename the medieval2.exe to launcher.exe and that worked for me.
