Customize Characters (Generals/Leaders/Spies/etc.)

Is there a way I can customize my characters? I'd like to go in and mess around with the stats, rename my characters, give them certain stats, etc. But I have no idea how to, and I can't find any sort of guide for it.

You cant really rename them, but you can google M2TW Traits and Ancillaries.

Names are fixed, you would need to edit the starting characters in descr_strat. Characters that get created during game play cannot be altered directly.
The traits and ancillaires mentioned are used to alter stats based on circumstances, that's as close as you will get where stats are comcermed.
