The Linux version of this game is 32-bit. The 64-bit patch was only for macOS.

Navigate to the following folder:
Users > YOUR USERNAME > Library > Application Support > Feral Interactive > Medieval II Total War
[The user Library is hidden by default in macOS, so please refer to the following link if you are unable to locate it: http://osxdaily.com/2016/12/12/show-user-library-folder-macos-sierra/ ]
Delete the folder called: cache
Once this folder is deleted please try launching the game again.
You have to delete the cache folder.
