Report a translation problem
You can try to download new files: delete the data\world folder and then verify your game files: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
After the verification and download of the new files have finished try again.

Although M2 usually runs quite nicely on a Mac... can you launch any of the Kingdoms expansions?
First of all, check the in-game sound options - secondly, check your audio drivers if you can as those do sometimes cause minor explosions (normally lag, though).
Ignore the Retrofit mod for now - that's a back-up plan.
